Verona, Italy
Right after Innsbruck, Austria we proceed to cross the border to Italy. First stop in Italy would be Verona, city of Romeo and Juliet. Yes that’s right, Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.
So, since we are in the city of Romeo and Juliet, the first thing we got to visit would be Juliet’s house. Well, not to break your romantic dreams, but this proclaimed Juliet’s house is not real, after all it’s a fictional character. The tour guide said that the title is given, after they used this house (especially the balcony) for shooting the play.
The balcony is not all that special, but I guess you need to use your imagination. Kinda sad for a bachelor for me though, there’s a lot of love birds taking photos with the balcony as background.
Not to mention theres this Juliet’s statue. What makes me wonder is that every part of the statue seems to be dirty and oxidized, except for her arm and right breast. Most of the tourist just grab her right chest and arm to take tourist photos, that probably result it to look “shiny” because of tons of human oil attached on those area that prevented her, ahem, right breast from rusting.
Supposedly, it should give you more love luck? Why don’t you just grab some girl’s breast instead? After all it’s a 50/50 gamble, either she loves it and start dating you, or you get a big whack in the face.
Later, we walked around Verona town square. Seems to me the houses and buildings here are quite lively with the sunset colors on. The red and orange colors reminds me of those old houses in Malacca.
Then in Verona, there’s this Verona Arena which kind of looks like a mini Colosseum, with the exception instead of giving gladiator fights as performances, this arena give opera performance. Something much like the olden days theater.
Okay, got to end this with some random shots. And more on Italy again next on Venice.
