Venice, City of Water
Okay, right after Verona the other day, our next destination is Venice the water city. We took about an hour bus journey to get to the port, and from there we took a ferry to get us to the heart of Venice.
Along the ferry ride, there are some historical buildings can be seen. Right after dropping on shore, we are guided by our tour manager towards Piazza San Marco, or literally St. Mark’s Square.
Right in St. Mark’s Square is the landmark, St. Mark’s Basilica. Another thing well known here is the amount of pigeons, so you might need to watch out your head for “dropping” bombs.
And of course, if you are in Venice you should get a Gondola ride. The Gondola ride is very expensive I would say, one full boat (around 6 per boat) cost around 100 Euros! Then again it’s pretty well worth it as it’s a fast way to travel and look around the city on water transport.
People say getting a Gondola ride with your lover is very romantic, but not when it’s frikin hot in the afternoon and there are tons of other tourist in the summer.
If you want to be “romantic”, just get a musician, the Gondola rower and of course most importantly with your sweetheart and ride on the evening sunset, instead of packing the whole boat with 6 people in it on the hot afternoon.
Right after the Gondola ride, we got to grab some lunch and later visit the Laguna Glass factory. We got to see how the colored glass vase is produced. Unfortunately, no photography of the products are allowed when we are given a tour of the finished products.
Later on, it’s pretty much touring on our own around the city.
Due to tour time contraint, we had to leave for the ferry earlier on that afternoon as we’ll be heading our journey to Rome city area to check into our hotels that night.
More photos are in the gallery, please check out the Venice album.
