Short Story Presentation Work

It’s been a long week preparing the stuff for the Short Story presentation. I and my team mates, Huay Meng and Ching Wei in a group of three, have to present the short story entitled “Trail of the Green Blazer” that is authored by R.K. Narayan.

We are required to present the story in any medium we like. Filming, drama, puppet show, anything that can actually get people’s attention. For our group, I’ve convinced my team members, to go on presenting our short story through drawings. And so, grabbing some papers and pen, started sketching out some characters.

Starting off is pretty tough, as I have to think how to create the characters’ looks and feel. Once the look is done, then come the story. Ching Wei and Huay Meng both giving me some ideas to start with, on what to do and putting in those important scenes. It started of slowly with only a few pages, but soon it grows so much and turned out to have 37 pages in total.

Personally, I’ve had fun drawing the main character, Raju. The story actually revolves around Raju, a pickpocket who get caught not because of stealing purse, instead he get caught while putting it back. To know more details, I suggest you to read the story, “Trail of the Green Blazer”.

And finally today we have presented our work, with Ching Wei and Huay Meng doing voice overs for the characters and I doing the story telling. Overall the presentation went well, seems like our classmates like the drawings too. Really have to thank Ching Wei and Huay Meng for doing a wonderful job for the voices of the characters.

I couldn’t complain more about the presentation, however there’s still a lot improvements that can be made if we had more time. I was a bit heartbroken when I have to pass up the whole copy of the original drawings to the tutor, since she has to keep a copy of our work. So as a momento, I did a digital painting of the character Raju.
