Rome, City of History

It’s a full day walking around the city of Rome, after all it’s the best method to travel there, with the notorious traffic and road condition. Also, bare with my lousy explanation, as I don’t really know much about these history.

St. Angelo Castle

Right after Vatican City and a light meal, we headed to the St. Angelo Castle as our first attraction visit in Rome. Standing right on the Bridge of the Angles, we can see the magnificent castle, that is now a museum.

Keep walking, across the alleys and headed towards the Navona Square, or known as PIazza Navona, where there’s a lot of artists selling drawings of landscape and self portraits.

This is also the place where my friend had a bad experience, as somebody cheated away his 10 Euros!

Moving along is heading towards the Pantheon, the temple of all the gods for Ancient Rome.

Pretty much pooped out at this moment, but there’s more walking ahead. Next stuff is the Spanish Steps located in Piazza di Spagna, personally I like this place better, but it’s a bit crowded.

When you come to Spanish Steps, you got to take a chance and have a sit on one of these grand stair steps. May remind you of Batu Caves, but with nicer set of stairs and shorter.

You are not going to miss this are you? It would be the well known wishing fountain, Trevi Fountain. Many tourist come here, making wishes and throw coins into the fountain. But let’s face it especially Malaysian Chinese, they throw coins in what ever fountain they see anyway!

Trevi Fountain, make your wish come true eh?

The so-called proper way to throw a coin into the fountain is using the right hand, stand backwards and throw from the left shoulder.

Manage to get to know a few tourists here as well, as there’s 3 Japanese tourists asking to take photo for them. I’ve kind of ask to take photos with them, with my lousy Japanese.

Rika, Kanae Kanako, I hope I get their names right

Not to mention there’s quite a lot of ice cream stores around this area, where they sell pant loads of ice-cream. Based on what I see in TV documentaries, their ice-cream cones stack way until the ceiling of the shop in the form of a tower, and they manage to sell them all.

Next stop is heading towards the attractions of Ancient Rome in Rome (feels funny when I write this). While heading towards the Colosseum area, there’s this giant monument, called the The Vittoriano Monument, or the Wedding Cake monument due to its shape.

The monument is for Victor Emmanuel, who is the first King of unified Italy. Seriously bloody big and can see from afar.

Keep walking and it’s the Colosseum ahead, with the Arch of Constantine. I believe I do not have to explain what’s with the Colosseum thingy right? It’s shape like a stadium, and if you watched Gladiator, you should know. Frankly didn’t went inside of the Colosseum, quite costly to actually enter and actually lack of time.

Well, must appreciate at least get to see the real thing on the outside.

Khim with Soon Seong kind of wanted to take a shot with the local girls near the Colosseum.

Whew, it’s evening and time to head for dinner, problem is there’s more walking before the restaurant. Then, it’s back to hotel and prepare for another day!

Okay, one more picture before I end, panorama of the Colosseum. More pictures can be found in the gallery album.
