Pixart Coffee Table Book
I decided to print my travel photos into a photo album, right after I’ve came back. After months of filtering and processing photos, finally got them printed using Pixart Photobooks service.
Getting them printed is pretty easy, they got a pretty easy to use software for you to download. Right after installing the software, use the software to start picking up photos and place them on the photobook templates with numerous of layouts.
The coffee table book cost RM89 for 20 double-sided printed pages. Luckily for me, they have promotion for first timers until the 31st January 2009, so I get 10 extra pages for free. So me being a cheapskate, I tried to squeeze in as much picture as possible in one page. The page size is fairly large, as its dimension is 8.5 x 11 inches. So even on some pages I have 9 photos in it, i feel that they are just the right amount in size.
Pages looks glossy, that are stitched together along with a fabric cover. Simple and neat stuff.
Okay most importantly for print quality, they are pretty much what I have expected. The print quality looks professional and the colors are on key (at least it’s almost the same as my monitor color) because previous experience printing on normal 4R photos yielded some darker photos. Frankly, I would say it’s pretty decent even to print wedding photos.
However I do have some hiccups, mostly is due to my fault. I accidentally have two duplicated photos, and somehow (being a cheapskate), the layout I use is borderless, so some of my photos got “cropped” accidentally on the sides.
In conclusion, I think it is a very good way to showcase your photos, or as a gift for a friend or relative. Definitely worth the try.

It looks nice, so, are those photos in the album arranged by you accordingly?

Good job, nice layout. I have tried out pixart myself but I find the print quality to be not so good. Because they use laser printer the gloss on the pages stick together after a few months. Also, the details at the hair area and skin tone is not so good. recently a friend of mine tested out Photobook Malaysia. He said the service is very good. He received his book in just 4 days. Not sure about the print quality - i have to see it for myself. According to him, they print using offset - which is similar to what the big guys use.
