People’s Attitude

I would like to show a video footage, from a Hong Kong stand-up comedian Dayo Wong, most notable as Evil Kin in his drama. His stand-up comedy are funny yet meaningful.

In this video, he mentioned about the Hong Kong people’s attitude, which is pretty much true on most Chinese people, of their heavy sense of jealousy of what people have, trying to destroy it or do something nasty about it.

The video is in Cantonese, just in case you didn’t understand. Translations:

Everyone, do you know the current situation of Hong Kong? Now, even you buy fish balls, the situation would be like this.

Eh, how come we pay the same amount of money, yet he get extra two fish balls?

Hoy, I don’t want you to give me two more, I want you to take away from him the extra two. All of us with the same amount, then that is fair.

Eh, how come he have sweet sauce, but I don’t have any sweet sauce on my fish balls?

Hoy, I don’t want you to give me the sauce, I want you to lick away his sauce. All of us don’t have sauces, then that is fair.

Eh, how come he don’t have the sweet sauce and the two fish balls, yet he still eating that happily? That is not fair!

Then, how is it to be fair?

All of us should eat very unhappily, eating very “pokai” (unlucky). Then that is fair.
