PC Modding

I’ve started doing PC modding quite some time and my current desktop PC casing already changes its looks a few times. In case those who didn’t know, try google “PC Modding” and you will get a lot of information about them. In this article, I will briefly show what I’ve done to my system so far.

The casing start off originally as a silver casing with a front panel door. The design was quite okay and the side window have some designs on it. However, I feel bored of the looks and the window design that covers the view inside overtime. And so the window was cut into a regular rectangular shape, the drives were also painted. Besides that, a top window was cut out and I’ve added a Cooler Master Musketeer drive panel to monitor the CPU temperature and control the fan voltage since I’ve overclock the CPU.

The desktop casing looks cool until one day an accident happened. The casing tumbled down, got some nasty scratches on the side panels and the front panel door broked. Well, that means its working time again. I start off by wiring the power LED and hard disk LED to one of my drive plates, since the original status LEDs are on the broken door panel. Next step is taking everything apart, wet sanding them like crazy and spray painted them.

Finally, the casing turned out to be red and black. The paint job is not really mirror finish, but I get quite some amount of reflection on the it. Spend a few hours doing cable management inside the case and adding 2 red neon tubes inside for lighting, I was quite happy with the results. Comparing before and after, the final looks of the casing does not look anything like the original.
