No Place Like London - Part 1

It’s two more weeks before my summer programme ends, and I and some fellow friends decided to go London. Like people say, if you didn’t go to London, you’ve never been to England. Just like going to Malaysia, but you never visited Kuala Lumpur, pretty much the same idea.

Anyway, we got there through coach with roughly 5 hours of journey from Liverpool. There we got of from Victoria Coach Station.

After buying our 2 days travel pass, we took the Tube (London underground train) to King’s Cross station, where it locates nearest to our booked hostel so we can leave our heavy bag packs.

On our way before heading to Westminster, where the Houses of Paliament and Westminster Abbey is located, we thought of checking out the Platform 9 3/4 in King’s Cross station. Just in case you didn’t know, the Platform 9 3/4 is the magical Hogwarts Express train platform used in Harry Porter novels. There are some other tourists taking photos too when we were there.

On to Westminster Tube Station, once we got out from the station, we were amazed that the Big Ben clock tower is just right above us. Across the Westminster Bridge, we were able to see the London Eye. And not too far away, is the Westminster Abbey.

Some photos here and there, then we got to Waterloo station to get to the London Eye area. There were tons of people lining up for the Eye ride. Meanwhile, there’s quite some performances in the nearby park too.

Next we headed to the Tower Hill station, to get to the Tower Bridge. Many people mistaken this bridge as the London Bridge. Which in fact, London Bridge is just a normal looking boring concrete bridge, situated along the same river as Tower Bridge.

The plan was to have dinner and wait until the sky gets dark to see the night view. Having dinner with Tower Bridge lit up in the background is superb.

And so, we headed back to Westminster station again, to catch the night view of Big Ben and London Eye before heading back to hostel.
