New Dell Notebooks

Dell.com has recently added few new notebooks. The most popular one being the Dell XPS m1330, being one of the thinnest 13″ laptop around. In addition, Dell came up with new line of Inspiron models 14.1″, 15.4″, 17″ widescreen and with 8 colors to choose from!

The new XPS m1330 looks great, and there are three colors to choose from, red (as shown above), white and black. Personally I would take the black one, looks professional and attractive. However, this thing doesn’t really come cheap. I’ve tried customizing this thing in the official Dell Malaysia website according to the specs I need, and it’s more than RM5K! Okay, let’s look at the Dell Inspiron, budget consumer laptop instead.

I’ve own a Dell Inspiron notebook before, and previously their design was never really a good looker or rather “uninspiring”. However, they do come cheap and offer a lot of options to customize the laptop. Before these new Inspirons came out, I was so sure that I wouldn’t want to buy another Dell Inspiron notebook and would get a business class Dell Latitude notebook instead. That was because mainly the Dell Inspiron notebooks are often made up of plastics.

You might want to ask me, why not choose another brand like HP or Toshiba. Well, I would have, but I was not willing to pay for higher price and sacrifice the ability to customize the specs and parts that I wanted. But then, when the new Inspiron came out, I was a little blown away with all the feature they have in there, and they are using Magnesium Alloy (which is normally the material for business class notebooks) for the chassis of these babies.

Besides the colors to choose from, these new notebooks come with 2.0 megapixel webcam with microphone, optional DirectX 10 capable discrete graphics card to choose from (a dream come true especially on the 14.1″ screen model), optional Wireless-N card, multimedia buttons, Wi-Fi catcher (which originally a feature in Dell Latitude class). Others features includes built in 8-in-1 card reader, minimum of four USB ports, a VGA port, an Express card slot.

It is also rumored that there will be another new line of Dell notebook coming in this July. Hope the rumor is true and they come up will a line of semi business class laptops. Will wait and see how they turn out, then I will have plenty of choices to choose from.
