Laptop Paintjob
My laptop is getting old and paint starts chipping off, making it looks bad in shape. At first, I only spray paint the top lid of the laptop, as it gets a lot of terrible scratches right after a year I’ve owned it. Now after more than two years, almost every part of the laptop get nasty scratches. So this time, it’s gonna be a major makeover.

I have to start off by taking the laptop apart, even having hard time opening the screws. The main reason is because the screws’ quality are so bad, some got stuck inside that I was not able to take it out with the screwdriver. So, some stuck screws have to be taken out by force using plier or using a drill (yea, a power drill, don’t try this at home).
Right after that, I sanded the parts like a mad man, that both my hands were so tired. Washed the parts, and place them outside to let them dry before starts painting. Alright, before going into details, I would have to warn you not to try this, unless you know exactly what you’re doing. You might screw up and I won’t be holding any responsibility if u try to do what I’ve done. Moreover, if you attempt to do this, you need a lot of patient (you can’t rush art). Ok, back into business. To help the paint sticks better, I’ve chosen to apply primer paint. As I was aiming to have the “Bee” theme look, I’m going for black and yellow color.

First and foremost, I spray painted the parts that I’ve wanted to be in black. These parts are the laptop base and the lcd screen frame. Painting the black parts are pretty much simple, as I’m going for flat black. All it took was a coat of primer, sanded it down and two coats of flat black color coat.

The tougher part was actually painting the lid, with yellow color. As I was aiming for a bit gloss finish, it took a longer time. A coat of primer, two yellow color coats and two clear coats. Between each coats, sanding is required. After the clear coats dried up, I took out some rubbing compound and rubbed on the panels, making it as smooth as possible.

Then, it was time to assemble the laptop back. Assembling the laptop back took quite an amount of time, as I have to figure it out where the parts originally located.

After getting it all back into pieces, it was time to fire up the laptop, to see if it’s still alive/working. Well, thank god everything works perfectly as before. I took some car polisher and polished the gloss finish yellow laptop lid, to give them some shine. What’s next was the photo shooting session :).
