Eye On Malaysia, New Year’s Eve

Frankly, I didn’t go any where on New Year’s Eve. Just thinking to share something I heard from the radio this morning.

You see, 2007 was Malaysia’s Tourism year. So initially, the Eye on Malaysia (which is one beautiful ferris wheel rented in to attract tourist for the year). And it suppose to be closed and unassembled to be returned, starting from 2008.

Eyes On Malaysia
Eye on Malaysia, spectacular ferris wheel

No doubt the typical Malaysia attitude, which wanted to go there last minute on the last day of the year, 31st of December 2007. Making a perfect plan, to see that spectacular ferris wheel, and then counting down to the new year. Imagine, having a photo with the ones you love, with Eye on Malaysia and some fireworks as the background, that would be the ultimate perfect plan.

Funny thing is, right about time towards new year, all the lights are closed down. Guards coming in closing the ferris wheel operation, and claiming “the wheel is now closed”. Bet the people there will go, “What the?”, “Are you serious, is new year’s eve and we want to take a perfect picture over here!”

Suddenly all dreams shattered, people go saying “no Eye see liao”. So what to do, even if they want to get to the central city square right now, they will surely miss the fireworks show, as it takes time to get there. Instead, they have to celebrate the new year, with a lights-out ferris wheel.

Isn’t it ironic? A perfect plan for celebrating new year’s eve, down to the drain.
