Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

Was going through some part of the program that I’m working on, and caught something funny. Enlarge the image below to find out.

Apparently, when a programmer is under tense situation, he write “stuff” in his inline comments.

Rich Text Format

Recently I’ve been working on syntax coloring or some say syntax highlighting, to be integrated to my Final Year Project. Well, in case you have no idea what is syntax coloring, it is basically where some of the reserved keywords highlighted in different color (typically in blue) when doing programming, to aid detection of errors or misspelled keywords.

See the blue color? That is syntax coloring for reserved keywords

Imagine something that looks simple, and some of us computer science students take for granted, can actually be quite a pain to make. My initial approach was keep detecting the whole text area, checks for reserved words and changes color as the user types in, and boy it lags badly and flickers a lot. So, I ditch that idea and went for another one. Read more…

3D Modeling Again

Wednesday, September 5th, 2007

Recently I am up to 3D stuff again, for good this time. I’m basically going to use what I’ve learn from my internship and put it in use for my college final year project. Well, although my skills are pretty limited, what I’m doing is to create low polygon 3D character models, render them into sequence of images to be used in my project.

Turns out that my model looks much like Cloud from Final Fantasy 7, due to the spiky hair. At the same time, with some kind of Lego man feel on the face. I got to admit that I did refer a bit on Cloud’s low polygon in-game model, while I was modeling that, hence the look-alike. Read more…

Web Design

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

Last Wednesday, Jonathan and I took a half day off from office, to attend a presentation in the afternoon. It turns out that the submission of our website design for the college website is in the finals, so we need to go a trip to college to present out work.

There are a total 8 teams in the finals, most of entries are full Flash animated websites. Our presentation went okay, however I tend to forget some points and having hard time to pull words out of my mind to say. In fact, this is the second time I did so badly in a presentation in my college years. I guess I was over confident.

Exhausted

Monday, June 18th, 2007

It’s been hectic these days. Rushing through to complete an animation in three days (which suppose to due today), which normally will need at least one and a half week. Had an OT (over time) last Friday trying to get feedback from the person-in-charge, as I was having hard time trying to contact him.

Exhausted

To my horror, when I finally get through the person-in-charge, he said the animation flow was incorrect. I felt that my world has collapsed in that very moment. I was thinking how am I gonna correct all these within a single day, not to mention that a complete rendering of these animation will normally take 8 hours (one full day of office hours) to complete. Didn’t had much sleep that night, worried that I was not able to get it ready by Monday. Read more…
