Typo Mistake

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

Some time ago, I was looking for reviews of camera. So I wanted to search for Canon’s camera, “Powershot” series. Instead, i typed “Powershit“. Oh my god, it so happen “i” is just beside “o”, so I tend to type them wrongly, not once but quite frequent. One letter and the word’s meaning is twisted, “Powershit“! Holy…

Lovers-go-die Club?

Sunday, February 17th, 2008

A few days back was Valentine’s Day, and as usual I am all alone. KK wrote something about this S.A.D, which kinda took my attention. Apparently, there is this Singles Awareness Day celebrated on February 14th as well.

Singles Awareness Day is an alternative to Valentine’s Day, for people who are single to celebrate. What really freaks me out is, there are these so called “Lovers-go-die Clubs” or “Go-die-go-die Clubs” that are clubs that go against lovers or couples, especially those who likes to do PDA (public display of affection), that is kissing or holding hands in front of public that sort of things, you get the idea.

These so called Lovers-go-die Club do public demonstration against lovers, holding banners that say “Lovers go die!”. Aiyai yai, that is a bit overboard in my opinion.

People’s Attitude

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

I would like to show a video footage, from a Hong Kong stand-up comedian Dayo Wong, most notable as Evil Kin in his drama. His stand-up comedy are funny yet meaningful.

In this video, he mentioned about the Hong Kong people’s attitude, which is pretty much true on most Chinese people, of their heavy sense of jealousy of what people have, trying to destroy it or do something nasty about it.

The video is in Cantonese, just in case you didn’t understand. Translations: Read more…

Eye On Malaysia, New Year’s Eve

Friday, January 4th, 2008

Frankly, I didn’t go any where on New Year’s Eve. Just thinking to share something I heard from the radio this morning.

You see, 2007 was Malaysia’s Tourism year. So initially, the Eye on Malaysia (which is one beautiful ferris wheel rented in to attract tourist for the year). And it suppose to be closed and unassembled to be returned, starting from 2008.

Symbolize People With Food

Thursday, November 8th, 2007

A few days back, I heard something interesting on radio. It was about symbolizing people with food. As you may know, western people often symbolized people they loved with food, for example like sugar, honey, muffin or cupcake.

While on the other hand for Chinese people, when we compare somebody with food, it is often related to degradation. People who have obesity problems are called “pork-chop (猪扒)”, red light district workers are either called “chicken (鸡)” for female or “duck (鸭)” for male. If you are slow or done something stupid, you will be addressed as “sweet potato (番薯)”。

Hmm, how come we can’t just use food and address something beautiful instead?
