Amsterdam, Netherlands - Part 2
Continue… Right after the boat ride, we are in front of Gassan diamond cutting factory. Got to have some real look on diamonds.
Girls looks happy on this one. The lady in the office shows us different grades of diamonds. Starting from tiny ones, so tiny that they are just diamond dusts. A blow and it will be gone! So, from little ones we look till the bigger ones.
Even the one Gassan claimed the only cutting that their factory has, 121 surface cutting. There’s even their GASSAN trademark on the diamond sides, if you look it through microscope.
Some girls probably longing for their boy friend to, you know, perhaps buy them one? You’ll end up being rob if you happen to take one as big as what Ivy’s wearing.
Diamond stuff really isn’t my thing anyway. I prefer to look optical glass at the moment, camera lenses if you know what I mean. And so, we are off to the Amsterdam Dam square next.
So we have some walkaround the city. One unique thing about Amsterdam houses is their design, which is usually tall and skinny, with a small door. That is due to the fact that in older days, their government charge door taxes based on door sizes.
So there’s this smart fellas, make very tiny doors, just enough for a regular person to get through. Save tax money huh? Also, since land is expensive, they built their houses taller and skinny.
Okay, one problem, with a door that small how the furnitures get in? Well, here’s the way which you have probably seen it on TV where people send big pianos into apartment through their big windows.
Most houses here are equiped with a hook on the top of the building, that is use to transport their big old furniture from groud to the upper floor through their big windows.
Netherlands is not known of having much natural resources on their own, so to help their economy, they take in raw materials and produces or manufacture products. One main export of their country would be flower seeds and flowers.
Back then they took in flowers from all over the world, and planted many different species in their green houses. Which is why now their being famous as flowers and bulbs exporter.
We had our dinner at some burger shop, before going out for our evening tour. The evening tour was kind of exciting, especially for the guys (or so what the Tour Manager said). Time and again he urge guys, not to be lost on purpose.
Reason behind that is because we are taking a tour at the Amsterdam Red Light District. Ugh erm.. “guys please do not pretend you’re lost”, no wonder… We don’t get to take any photos in this area, the ladies and pimps wouldn’t be happy about that. You will end up having your cameras trashed, probably get KOed.

So, I’ll roughly describe the area with words. They have these shop lots, where the “ladies” (well, it could be a guy, I don’t know) are standing or sitting inside a glass compartment. Most of them just wear lingeries, some even have glowing undergarments (like the ones when you go under UV lighting, they will illuminate in purple or some sort).
The ladies are mostly are standing and some doing their make up, and right behind them is a bed. Talking about convenient huh? Imagine this, you look through these “aquariums” and find a girl you like. So, you knock on the glass door and negotiate the price with the “lady”. You two agreed on a price.
Then the “lady” takes you in, just behind her is the bed. So, she pull the curtain (which is just behind the glass door, and you both do you-know-what-on-the-bed. After 30 minutes, you come out with your tie crooked and messy clothes, and probably some lipstick mark on your face. What can I say? fast and efficient.
